It seems that school has lost sight of the goal that they should be educating and challenging students instead of indoctrinating them. But is there anything that can be done? I think there are a few problems that can be addressed.
The Holy Cross Order has a principle they call "educating hearts and minds." In a time when we know more than ever, and the discoveries of the wisest and smartest people are taught to high schoolers, it's amazing that people are so poorly prepared for life. There is no teaching the importance of family, morality, responsibility or other essential human ideas that make people successful at life- rather than just a career.
