So, I'm now back in the office for recording, and if you can't see it you should check out my YouTube Channel. You'll be able to watch the book reviews and see the new office. But, to get to the topic for this episode, I'll be discussing a book by Scott Yenor. The Recovery of Family Life is an insightful look into the attack on the family, and how to push back. I learned about this book because someone reached out to me about it. After reading most of it, I can say this is a crucial read for everyone in our culture today. Unlike other reviews I've done, this is one that someone reached out to me to review. And, I'm glad she did. If it weren't for her reaching out, I wouldn't have found this book that has really intrigued me. I must say that this has really changed how I approach some of the cultural-political problems we face.
177. Book Review | Plato’s Republic
Plato, one of the best known Greek philosophers, was a student of Socrates and a teacher of Aristotle. He's notable not only for his tremendous insight into philosophy, but his style as well. Instead of explaining his ideas in a long soliloquy, he used dialogue to teach. For his dialogues, he uses Socrates and what we now know as the Socratic method to extract ideas from his characters. In Plato's Republic, we take a look at what he thinks the ideal society would be. So, let's take a look at what Plato has to say about his ideal political situation.

Today is mailbag day! So, I'll be answering your Mailbag Questions. Before I dive into those questions, I'll be talking about a tweet of mine that went viral and why I think it did. Plus, I'll discuss how people misunderstood what I was getting at with the tweet. Then, I'll talk about what I really was trying to get at.

Roger Scruton is one of the leading conservative philosophers of the last century, and potentially of all time. Honestly, I think anyone - whether conservative or not - would learn a lot from this book. Interested? Check out the podcast here:

152. Where’s The Line Between Politics And Morality?
When can we legislate an opinion? Who is to say that an opinion is a fact? The left has long called to bring the personal into politics, while also calling to keep politics away from people's private decisions. These two things cannot exist together in one's mind.
146. Observing Politics Without Going Crazy
The important thing in observing politics is to maintain objectivity and ability to discuss politics in a disassociated manner. This allows one to evaluate the actions of politicians based on the outcomes rather than one's opinion of them. Recognizing good politicking is not supporting someone, just acknowledging skill.
145. Book Review | Win Bigly by Scott Adams
I read Scott Adam's Win Bigly a couple years after the election of Donald Trump, and it was then that I realized what happened in that election. Up until then, I thought it was a bit lucky with some skill combined with the fact he was up against a hubristic Democrat party and the most unlikeable candidate in recent history.
144. How To See Through The Media’s Lies
We recently looked at how much faster lies spread than the truth. But, I want to dive deeper to see how we're being lied to and help you identify lies in headlines, articles, and assertions being put forward regularly.
I think all of these little lies add up and make it difficult to trust any authority. But, if we sharpen our minds and are aware of the deception being presented, we can see the lies. This tangled web is artfully articulated in Empire of Lies, which I reviewed last episode.

With everything going on with Ghislaine Maxwell, and potentially another "suicide" on the way, I thought it would be good to give my thoughts on a great book about Epstein. This story is going to come back up, and I think it's important to know the background so you don't get gaslighted.
